from 94 reviewsI looked at a ton of fat bikes, found a Crestone one size too small for me but on a big sale. Thankfully I looked on here and used the custom bike builder. I got exactly what I wanted, the newer Mastodon fork, and the weight shown on the builder was accurate! Totally blown away by this bike. As a Tig welder I really appreciate the effort they put into the frames they are beautiful. To top it all off, there is an integrated dropper port in the seat post! Couldn't get any better and the price is amazing. Would drop off the wine basket for the holidays if I didn't live on the other side of the country. They also answered all questions throughout the process. I am definitely not a bike builder expert haha.
David was very helpful during the build process! He was quick to answer any questions I had. Very pleased with the frame and the support.
This bike is so much fun! There are so many ways you can ride it, I can’t wait to try them all! The color looked even better in person(green). As soon as I got everything together it was so well tuned that the gears shifted flawlessly first try. it was a bit more work to put together than I anticipated but I think that’s mostly because I ordered the Manitou Fork and they installed the front brake stuff on the borealis fork that it also came with and the instruction video didn’t cover anything about installing the manitou fork and subsequently swapping the brakes over to it. I was able to get it done but it definitely added a good chunk of time to the job. like I said though once it was all together the bike performed amazingly and I can’t wait for the first snow! Also their shipping was super fast they’re super on top of getting it shipped out. I’ll be back to get a full wheelset for my summer wheels/tires in the spring! Thank you!
After tons of research and very high expectations, I ordered a Keystone. The bike came very well packaged and set up perfectly and assembly was very easy. So far, the bike has exceeded my expectations especially on single track. I ordered mine with Mulefut 27.5” x 65 mm wheels and 4.3 Yippee Ki Yay tires. The set up rolls over everything and really sticks to the ground no matter what the trail throws at it. They are a great all around tire.
The fork set up for me was very quick and easy and performance is great matching the rest of the bike.
Electronic shifting is buttery smooth and very sweet.
Shimano EP8 is very seamless, yet makes me feel like Superman when needed. The bike climbs steep and loose hills like nothing. I can’t recommend the bike enough. My only recommended change would be to the handlebar grips. I couldn’t wrap my fingers around them and my hands slipped, I replaced with round.
Overall, I am thrilled with this purchase and ride it as much as possible. I am an older rider(63) getting back into mountain biking and loving this bike! Thank you Steve and Borealis Crew!
The entire process was smooth, and the special discount to Military & Police is greatly appreciated. I have been a mountain bike rider for years, and taught biking for the police, and this is my first fat-tire bike. Top-notch product and beautiful carbon work. I can't wait to get it out on the sand and snow!
After extensive research across all possible options, I choose the custom Flume. I opted for the Manitou Mastodon fork and upgraded to the GX drivetrain to get the lowest gearing possible, with the smallest chainring for maximum torque.
I am so pleased with the quality of the frame and the overall product - this bike is a fantastic value and I don't regret the money spent at all. The 27.5 wheels on 65mm rims are perfect size to go up to full 4 inch fat tires or down closer to 3 inch - I've now run the full scale and I love being able to swap out for exactly what I need, summer vs. winter.
I've turned it into all season explorer, ready for everything from local trail riding to multi-day bikepacking. I also added a Thudbuster suspension seatpost, dual sided clip pedals, a Sonder Confucious handlebar and ergo bar ends. With a frame bag and a seat pack I can go just about anywhere any time of year! Borealis also built me a 29" x 45 mm front wheel upon request, so now I'm running a hardtail fat bike mullet!
Lots of fun - so many options - that's what I love about fat bikes. This bike seems to be the perfect and affordable platform for whatever I want to dream up, and so far I've been able to ride much steeper and gnarlier terrain than my full suspension 29" ever did.
What a beautiful set of wheels! Took a little more tire sealant than planned to get the rims to stop pushing air out the nipples but in the end we sealed up no problem!
Super light and very well assembled. Haven’t ridden them much yet this season, no snow but the fit and finish is stellar. Borealis Hubs spin nicely and feel very well made.
Jumps well, absolutely rips through snow and is just fun with whatever you’re doing! It’s my favorite e-bike on the market!
I have been riding Crestones for 6 or 7 years now and have used them for literally everything. I’ve used them for XC racing, ripping up a bike park, to bombing down ski runs. It’s super lightweight (mine is 23lbs at the moment), fast and very fun! If I could have one bike forever it would be a Crestone!
This was a great sale, and we have always loved HED wheels, so we couldn’t pass them up!!
I have been able to test the bike on various summer rocky and sandy Colorado conditions. My bike handling needs to improve to catch up with the bikes abilities. Love it and can’t wait for other seasonal conditions!
I recently bought a fully loaded Crestone and it is by far my favorite bike yet. I have rode it in many different conditions and it’s a blast to ride. Not the fastest bike I own but the most fun.
Tire is great but David is the man . He is very helpful and competent in his job. The company deserves a 5 star rating
